Location
The Homestead - Seanabhaile is located three miles from Killorglin, the home of Puck Fair, which is held annually on the 10th - 12th of August. The fair is intrinsically linked with Killorglin Town and so a bronze sculpture of King Puck was erected in 2000 to commemorate Puck Fair. Killorglin Town is the gateway to the naturally beautiful areas of Caragh Lake (9km long and 1.5km wide), Glencar and the fishing village of Cromane. These areas are paradise to the fisherman and the lover of fine scenery. Killorglin Town is also the gateway to the beautiful Ring of Kerry which is known worldwide for its heritage sites and stunning scenery. The Ring of Kerry is a 112 miles journey and covers the towns Killorglin, Glenbeigh, Kells, Caherciveen, Waterville, Caherdaniel, Castlecove, Sneem, Kenmare and Killarney. There are quite a number of heritage and archeological sites on the Ring of Kerry. Any information which you may require regarding these sites or information on tours which you propose to undertake may be obtained from your host Joan Curran who is a qualified Failte Ireland Tour Guide. Close to The Homestead lies the Kerry Woollen Mills, a wonderful old stone building which dates back to the 17th Century when King Charles II of England granted a charter to merchant Edward Sealy to establish a woollen manufacturing industry. A full range of woollen manufacturing takes place at the factory to-date. There is a factory shop located on the premises and the public are welcome to visit. There are many visitor attractions located close to The Homestead including Kerry Woollen Mills, Ballymalis Castle, Kate Kearneys Cottage and the Gap of Dunloe making it a perfect touring base.
